Chinese Food

A butcher's stall in GuangZhou, China. The big red Chinese characters on the glass say "Authentic dog meat and mutton from Lei State." Please don't cry. Apparently fissiped mammal as food is more common in GuangZhou than I thought.

What does "fissiped" mean? BTW, I'm grossed out. We have a dog named "Skye" that we're babysitting for friends, and I can't get rid of the picture of him hanging by a hook!

I'll never think the same anymore of Chinese Food. I'll always have visions of this pix of the dogs and wonder if the custom carried over to the US un-beknowest to the unsuspecting.

as a vegan, i see no prima facie difference between a cow on the hook or a dog.

and while i understand why others do, i obviously think improvements would be possible if others did not.

otherwise i wouldn't still be vegan ; ).

i hope the trip is going well so far! i hope you have been able to find some space to turn off the mind. i've been looking for that myself lately, somewhat in vain : ).

peace,
k
